Do you love to sing? I do! I love singing and I’d like to share a little about of why I love to do so. Aside from the fact that singing raises your vibration and mood, do you ever consider why you sing? Many don’t think of a motive for why we do things. Many years ago I learned a song that teaches some really good reasons to sing. Let’s take a look at this song – “Sing for Joy”
Sing for Joy is one of a group of songs that appears in a special book of songs for the campfire. If you know anything about Girl Guides (or Girl Scouts), we love to go camping. Campfires are special part of the camp experience.
At one of the many camps I attended, we learned this song. A song that has a lot of meaning for me. Let’s take a look at the lyrics.
Sing for Joy
(source: “Our Chalet Songbook”, Our Chalet Committee, 1981; also found in “Songs For Tomorrow”, Girl Guides Association, 1984.).
Chorus:
Sing for joy, sing for love, sing for peace, sing for happiness,
Sing as you journey along.
If one man stops to listen to the message that you bring
One day the world will sing your song
One day the world will sing your song
Joy is for bringing to those who are sad,
Joy is a gift that is free.
Joy is for gladness that brightens each day,
Joy is a song for you and me,
Joy is a song for you and me
Repeat Chorus Here
Love is for giving wherever you go,
Love is for showing you care
Love is compassion and friendship and trust
Love is a song for everywhere
Love is a song for everywhere
Repeat Chorus Here
Peace is for spreading all over the world,
Peace is the ending of war.
Peace is for justice and freedom and truth,
Peace is a song for evermore,
Peace is a song for evermore
Repeat Chorus Here

I love this song. It has such a beautiful message. Imagine a world filled with joy, love, peace and happiness. I have carried the theme of this song through to my work. However, instead of considering spreading this message one man at a time, I do so one woman or mother at a time.
My work experience has shown me that the tone of every home and family is set by the mother. The woman creates the atmosphere for the home. If the woman or mother is strong, well balanced and focused on promoting health and well being, then this will filter through to her family and her home. If the woman is focused on treating others with kindness and respect, this will carry over to the rest of her family and from there to everyone they come into contact with.
From Girl Guides I learned to want a world filled with all kinds of good and peaceful qualities. How do you change the world? To me it will be by strengthening women and mothers, one woman or mother at a time.
Join me in singing for joy, love, peace and happiness! Join me in striving for a better world, so that our children can enjoy peace, tranquility, unity, love and respect.
